Research Area
Our team is interested in translational research in sickle cell disease, with the goal of helping to develop new therapies for sickle cell disease. We initiated and completed phase I trials of intravenous gammaglobulin for pain crisis and plerixafor mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells for gene therapy and have studied the use of therapeutic plasma exchange to remove damaging heme and replace therapeutic haptoglobin and hemopexin in multi-organ failure. We are also interested in improving techniques and processes for collection of cellular therapy products.
