Mohandas Narla, DSc, Distinguished Scientist at New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), helped kick off the 66th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego, CA. Dr. Narla is the 2024 President of ASH, as well as the head of the Laboratory of Red Cell Physiology at NYBCe.
Dr. Narla has made significant contributions to research focused on the pathophysiology of inherited and acquired red blood cell disorders, and his research interests include hereditary spherocytosis, sickle cell disease, thalassemias, and malaria. He also specializes in erythropoiesis with an emphasis on ineffective erythropoiesis in myelodysplasia and Diamond-Blackfan anemia.
