Shilpi Banerjee, Esq. is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of New York Blood Center (NYBC)

Shilpi Banerjee, Esq., PhD is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of New York Blood Center (NYBC). In this capacity, she oversees all legal matters for NYBC Enterprises, including commercial, M&A, real estate, intellectual property, regulatory, litigation and labor and employment matters. 

Shilpi brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Cleveland Clinic.  

At Nationwide Children’s Hospital, she oversaw legal services for the research enterprise and commercialization activities, managed a legal team, and served as Assistant Corporate Secretary of the Abigail Wexner Research Institute. Before that, she was the Associate General Counsel and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she managed a team responsible for intellectual property protection, agreements related to the research enterprise and provided legal services to the technology commercialization and business development functions. 

Shilpi also served as Counsel and Chair of the Research and Education Practice Group at Cleveland Clinic, where she supervised intellectual property matters and advised on various research-related matters. She began her career in private practice at Ropes and Gray LLP and Sidley Austin LLP. 

Shilpi holds a JD from Stanford Law School and a PhD from Tufts University School of Medicine.  She is admitted to the bar in New York, California, and Ohio, and is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Her scientific experience includes postdoctoral research at Caltech and Case Western Reserve University.
